ABOUT THE CIC
-
What is a Community Interest Company (CIC)?
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a special type of limited company in the UK designed to benefit the community rather than private shareholders, with profits and assets reinvested to achieve social objectives.
-
What is our social objective?
To produce an inclusive and accessible event for the local community of Peckham and Southwark whilst creating vocational and employment opportunities for local artists, musicians, traders, business owners, charities - people generally.
-
Who are the directors?
Charmaine Taylor (Creative Director)
Daniel Lawson (Director) -
How is On the Rye Festival funded?
At the moment GALA Festival is funding the entire event. This includes the production costs e.g., stage management, security, bar staff, CIC staff costs. Also funded by GALA are the programming costs for artists and contributors.
-
How will On the Rye Festival’s funding evolve?
We were unsuccessful this year to secure public funding within the borough of Southwark. We hope to seek other funding opportunities and paid partnerships as a source of income in the future.
We will also be dependent on sales coming from the bars and some food trader pitch fees. These two sources of income will hopefully take the CIC to the point where GALA can break-even on the event for their significant investment in our first free community day.
Following this break-even point additional e.g. bar sales will be reinvested into the CIC’s programming, staff costs and local initiatives.
